Protect the Legacy: How To Pass the Touch

Without Dropping It!

Every fair has that person who carries decades of knowledge in their head or in one battered binder. When they leave, the legacy goes with them. The truth is, people say the fair industry is dying, but it is not dying. It is quietly losing the wisdom of those who built it.

This session is about honouring the leaders who came before us, capturing their knowledge, and creating continuity so future generations are not  tarting from scratch. Together, we will reframe the fear of being replaced into the excitement of becoming the expert who passes on the torch. You will walk away with tools to protect your fair’s history and confidence that the legacy will not be lost.

About Kryssie

Kryssie Thomson is a third-generation fair leader who has lived it all as a volunteer, a board member, and a community builder. She knows the reality behind the midway lights: the binders that go missing, the volunteers who run on fumes, and the legacy that risks being lost when knowledge walks out the door.

Through her work with Fair Systems that Work, Kryssie cuts through the noise with no BS, humour, and tools that actually make a difference. She shows fairs and exhibitions how to capture hard-earned wisdom, honour the people who came before, and hand the reins to the next generation with confidence rather than chaos.
